Self Improvement Secrets Quote of the Day:
"Brain Science is now capable of providing us with insight into the human brain that only a few years ago would have been considered the stuff of science fiction. An exciting consequence of this research is that by following certain brain-based guidelines, anyone can achieve expert performance in sports, business, or academic pursuits.
"Such findings of course run counter to the old traditional theory that winners are born not made. This is not so. Instead, it is now clear that by learning about and applying this new research, most of us can reasonably expect greatly enhanced personal levels of achievement." - Dr Richard Restak, one of the leading research neuroscientists in the world, speaking in 2003

Self Improvement and Taking Action
Self Improvement and Taking Action
Much has been written about writing down goals and regularly reviewing and updating them as a major party of self improvement and success. Likewise, it is considered that a plan for the achievement of any goal, and breaking major goals into manageable steps are essential. If you are thinking of stating a new business or any major undertaking, thorough research is certainly required. It is also unlikely that any new businesses will get far without a well written and researched business plan, and the chances of raising money from a bank without one are probably zero.
However, it is possible to spend too much time in preparation, writing and rewriting, researching and exploring, or waiting for everything to be just right. This can even be a form of procrastination, or perhaps a fear of taking the first steps. One thing that you can rely on – conditions will never be just right!!
There’s great deal of invaluable self improvement advice available to help with all the steps necessary for achievement and success. But you can be certain that little will ever be achieved without action – sustained, determined and committed action. Many highly successful people and companies started out with little in the way of written plans, and almost certainly without having just the right conditions in place. But one thing you can be sure of - they took action, and probably massive action, in the direction of their clearly held visions.
Self Improvement Secrets Quote of the Day:
"You will never stub your toe by standing still, but the faster you go, the more chance you have of getting somewhere!" - Charles Kettering

What are Affirmations and how can they help with Self Improvement?
What are Affirmations and how can they help with Self Improvement?
Affirmations are statements we think or say to ourselves or others. An example of an affirmation you may have heard is ‘Day by day, in every way, I am getting better and better’. This may sound quaint and old fashioned, which is not not surprising, as it was written by Dr Emile Coue, who ran a clinic in France in the early 20th century. The major part of his method to successfully treat thousands of patients, with many different afflictions, was to repeat this affirmation 20 times, twice a day.
He said he never cured anyone, but taught people to cure themselves. However, these cures certainly did occur and are well documented.
Affirmations themselves can be either positive or negative. Saying ‘This always happens to me’ when something goes wrong is an example of a negative affirmation.
Many Self Improvement Experts and Brain Researchers are convinced that affirmations, and the thoughts we regularly hold in our minds, actually create our reality, and influence and shape what happens to us in our lives. If we change what we believe, and say and think to ourselves, we can change our reality and lives.
Self Improvement Secrets Quote of the Day:
“The greatest discovery of my generation is that man can alter his life simply by altering his attitude of mind." – William James

Reading and Self Improvement
Reading and Self Improvement
How important is reading for self improvement? We all have to deal with so much information and so many different forms of media today that it’s easy to forget how much can be gained from reading books.
Good books can do many things - transport us to another place and time; give us insights into the lives of others; educate us and increase our knowledge; expand our minds; entertain and amuse us; inspire and move us; enrich our lives and much, much more. The very best books can change lives.
A large number of people consider life a continuous quest for education and self improvement, and there are many excellent Books and eBooks available, written by experts in personal development and maximising the human potential. These can really help both the life-long learner and people who want to make positive changes in their lives.
They may sound like tired clichés, but ‘leaders are readers’ and ‘to earn more, learn more’ are almost certainly just as valid today as ever.
Self Improvement Secrets Quote of the Day:
“The greatest gift is the passion for reading. It is cheap, it consoles, it distracts, it excites, it gives you knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is a moral illumination.” - Elizabeth Hardwick
